So many choices and so damn clueless

I spent an hour or so in Lowes tonight looking at flooring options and trying to deal with the sticker shock. The piss soaked carpets need to be changed out and I really like hardwood flooring. Unfortunately it’s a huge space, almost 800 square foot, and it gets rather expensive. There is an overwhelming choice of finishes, textures and colours that I really need someone who can match colours and help me with this.

An artist with an eye for colour and texture would be nice. I’m colour blind, but I don’t have a clue when it comes to this, do I match the kitchen cabinets? Do I go for a contrast? What is a contrast for pine? I am hopeless.
