There is a wonderful story about the Whitechapel Bell Foundry in today’s London Times. The company has been trading as a bell maker since 1570, made both Big Ben (the bell in the clock tower at Westminster) and the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia (and a few replicas for people who really do have everything).
The current owner says “I do not regard myself as an owner but more a custodian”. Five hundred and forty years of trading and quite a story.
